MY BOOKS
My funny memoir Retail Hell came out in hardcover in 2009 and then its sequel Return To the Big Fancy followed in 2012. They are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and many book stores in various different formats.
Retail Hell, How I Sold My Soul to the Store, Confessions of a Tortured Sales Associate chronicles my hilariously shocking life as a salesman selling designer handbags at a high-end department store called The Big Fancy. What I really wanted to do was become a screenwriter, but like so many Hollywood Hopefuls, I got sucked into the demanding expectations of the store and it wasn't long before The Big Fancy and its crazy customers, neurotic managers, and corporate shenanigans were running my life. I wrote Retail Hell to be a laugh out loud romp into the world of shopping and salespeople.
The sequel, Return to the Big Fancy, a Riotous Descent into the Depths of Customer, Corporate and Coworker Hell was released in hardcover in September 2012. Readers experience corporate culture and coworker hell at its worst as they spend a year in retail hell following my journey of being forced to sell beyond what is possible and fight other salespeople for sales to keep from being fired. It’s a shark eat shark world at The Big Fancy.
More of my hellaciously funny retail essays can be found at the beginning of each of these 4 digital e-books dedicated to stories from Retail Hell Underground blog. They are only available through Amazon Kindle for $4.99 but are free for Unlimited members. For More info go here.
In 2010 I did a fun novelty book for Adams Media called Stuff That Makes a Gay Heart Weep. It was conceived as a spoof to the popular book Stuff White People Like, only here I get to describe things that aren’t so cool and trendy in a gay person's eyes, things that make me go ugh! Things that make me go what? Things that make me go WTF? Things that make my Gay Heart Weep. Seven years later, it's no longer in print and I’ll admit, it’s outdated in its humor and take on things due to changing trends and our ever-evolving likes and dislikes! But if you’d "like" to check it out for "member berry" fun, it’s free on Amazon kindle and amazingly someone still has paperback copies of it for $6!
